Spammers. Why Des It Have To Be Spammers?

*sigh* It looks like the comment spammers have found UNDULANT FEVER. In the last few days, I've had about a half dozen comment spams posted here. (Mostly linking back to weight loss sites, but one referring back to swimming pool chemicals. WTF?)

I've turned on the "word verification" setting to try and keep out the automated spams. This means anyone making a real comment will have to go thru an extra step. Sorry.

I must say that the 'Christian Weight Loss" post aroused my curiosity (though not enough to make me actually go there). What could it be? Seven fat years followed by seven lean years? A diet of loaves and fishes? Not too popular with the carb-watching crowd, I imagine. But considering the much-touted health benefits of wine, turning water into wine sounds like a good health move...

I find it's necessary to check every comment to see where the link goes, and if it's dubious. There are a variety of programs out there paying people (a tiny amount) for going around making genuine, on-target, comments to blogs that nonetheless are posted solely to leave the link to the commercial site, and that sort of thing is apt to only grow until such links cease to be worth money.
